Pregnancy Travel Guidelines For Ethiopian Airlines

Pregnant women must know about their health condition along with the guidelines of the flight they will fly on so that they will know what documents they are required to get handy and whether they can fly with them or not. Some airlines have strict air policies that restrict the travel of expecting ladies after some specific weeks of pregnancy.  However, when it comes to Ethiopian Airlines, its guidelines and rules are a bit extensive and allow travel to pregnant ladies only provided with certain conditions. Thus, learning about the airline's pregnancy policy is essential to understanding the necessary documents and the conditions under which one can travel. Therefore, you can look at the article below to understand the same and make your Ethiopian Airlines travel experience joyful.

Guidelines For Pregnant In Ethiopian Airlines

Ethiopian Airlines doesn't want to create any trouble for its passengers, so it looks out for every basic detail where the flyers can have complications, thus restraining such travel. Therefore, its pregnancy policy, which is made to cater to the needs of the expected women, can be seen as follows:

  • Ladies with normal pregnancy conditions are allowed to fly with Ethiopian Airlines for up to 28 weeks on both national and international flights, and they aren't required to have medical clearance from their healthcare providers. However, they are expected to fill out the pregnancy certificate provided on the airline's official website and keep it handy at the time of check-in or boarding.
  • If their pregnancy is more than 28 weeks old, expectant ladies are required to have their attending doctors fill out a medical clearance form using a pregnancy certificate. This form is also available on Ethiopian Airlines' official website.
  • You can travel on domestic and short-haul flights with a total duration of no more than 2 hours until 36 weeks into your pregnancy.
  • Travel can be permitted until your 34 weeks of pregnancy for international flights whose duration is more than 2 hours, only if you have prior medical approval from your doctor.
  • Ethiopian Airlines advises that expectant mothers voluntarily share some information regarding the uncertainty of pregnancy, expected complications in delivery, or previous cases of multiple births. If the provided information indicates that the health of the expectant mother is normal and has no pregnancy complications, then she may have been generally expected by the airline without requiring any ET medical clearance. However, if the information indicates the reverse, they may be required to have a medical clearance from ET medical service.
