What Airlines Allow Pets in Cabin on International Flights?
Traveling with a pet always feels like you are at home, but it can be a strenuous task as some international Airlines allow pets in the Cabin only when certain conditions and guidelines are met. Usually, several International Airlines allow pets in a Cabin; nevertheless, the passenger needs to ensure that the pet container is enough to fit easily underneath the seat. Few airlines allow small dogs, birds, cats, and other pets such as ferrets and different habits. Significantly, each International Airlines has diverse rules and regulations for pet travel in the cabin. Even sometimes, Airline pet travel in the cabin is permitted based on the destination country's strict rules; thus, booking flight tickets directly with the Airline is essential to avoid the last-minute hassle at the Security Check-in. In this travel guide, you will discover the list of international airlines that permit pets in cabins.
List of International Airlines Permit Pets in Cabin:
1. American Airlines:
American Airlines permits pets in the cabin as carry-ons and transports them through American Airlines cargo based on breed and size. Per the American Airlines Pet Policy, carry-on pets are confined to cats and dogs only when they meet the size, age, and destination requirements. Passengers should ensure the Airline lets them bring only one pet in one carrier by paying a specific fee even though the carrier must fit under the seat in front of you. American Airlines Pet Policy states that passengers are allowed to travel with pets on most long-haul 12-hour flights to/from specific destinations, including the U.S. and Canada, Alaska, Mexico, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and more.
- The pet should be small enough to fit comfortably in the zipped carrier.
- Pet Kennel should be secure, padded, and made of repellant material for a hassle-free check-in process.
- To bring pets in the American Airlines cabin, the kennel should be no larger than 19" 13", 9" 48", 33", and 22 cm.
2. Air France:
To ensure a pet's smooth and comfortable journey, Air France allows small pets in the Cabin only when their weight and Kennel meet the eligibility criteria. Those traveling with a Pet to the United States should raise the Pet travel request 48 hours before the scheduled flight departure time, as only a few pets are allowed in one Aircraft. Per the Air France Pet Policy, Passengers are not supposed to travel with pets in Business cabins on intercontinental flights. In case the traveler's dog or cat weighs between 8kg/ 17.64lb and 75kg/ 165.35lb, including its Kennel, then it must travel in the hold; however, one passenger may only allowed to travel with a maximum of three pets in the hold.
3. United Airlines:
United Airlines permits travelers to bring their pets to the Cabin on domestic and international flights. Still, this rule is limited to the small cats or dogs that can comfortably travel in Kennel on long-haul flights, although the pets traveling with active military or state departments are supposed to travel in Cargo. Significantly, the pets in cabins hinge upon the availability of space; therefore, on most United Airlines flights, passengers are allowed to bring up to two pets per person, but if you want to bring two pets per person, then make sure to purchase two seats which must be next to your assigned seats. Due to limited space in the middle seats, United Airlines allows only one pet per person in specific Aircraft, including A319, A320, A321neo, 737-800, 737 - 900, and more.
- As pets are not limited in weight or breed, carry-on travelers should ensure that the soft-sided and hard-sided carriers do not exceed the length, height, and width of 22cm, 44cm, and 30cm, respectively.
4. Lufthansa Airlines:
Passengers flying on Lufthansa should not worry about their pet travel on international routes as the Airline permits pet transport either as carry-on or as extra checked luggage in the Air- Conditioned Cargo contingent on the breed, size, and weight despite that Lufthansa follows different pet policy rules for assistance dogs. While booking Lufthansa flight tickets to any U.S. destination, make sure to be confidential about the new entry requirements for pets in the USA as currently, dogs are permitted to specific cities of the US such as Atlanta, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington DC. Therefore, small dogs and cats should not weigh more than 8kg, including the pet carrier, whereas the large breed dogs and other species of animals are not allowed in the cabin regardless of their weight and size.
5. Singapore Airlines:
Singapore Airlines welcomes pets on flights as carry-ons in the cabin or checked luggage in cargo. An additional fee may apply, depending on travel distance, arrival/departure Airport, and fare class. Significantly, the Airline allows only certain breeds to be in the cabin. Before booking, ensure your pet does not belong to a restricted breed. Besides that, the Airline also won't allow pregnant pets. Thus, to make pet Check-in easy and quick, passengers should bring essential travel documents like medical certificates, pet passports, and more.
6. KLM Royal Dutch Airline:
According to the KLM Royal Dutch Airline pet policy, the Airline only permits cat and dog transport in the cabin and cargo for all fare type holders from Economy to Business class. Significantly, the number of pets allowed in one Aircraft is based on the type of Aircraft Airline serving the destination route due to limited space in the aircraft. To get the space, you must consider booking the tickets for the pet earlier, at least 48 minutes before the departure.
Other Airline offer Pet-Friendly Policy for International flights:
Many other Airlines offer pet-friendly policies, including Delta, Frontier, Turkish Airlines, and Alaska Air.
Conclusion:
Airline Pet Travel Policy may change timely based on the situation, so passengers are highly recommended to check the Airline's current pet policy before booking international flight tickets to avoid the hassle at the time of departure. Although some airlines have less space and restrictions on the number of pets on one flight, it is better to consider booking at least 48 hours before the scheduled departure time. To book the itinerary of pets for an international route, passengers should book the tickets directly with the Airline.
