Onboard Baggage Guidelines and Fee Structure for Travellers of Spirit Airlines

Policies For Personal Items:

  • All travellers can bring one personal item onboard for free, as long as it can easily fit in the smaller size bin.
  • The overall dimensions of your personal item, including handles and wheels, can't exceed 18 x 14 x 8 inches or 45 x 35 x 20 cm.
  • Your personal items can include items like a purse or small bag as long as they adhere to the mentioned dimensions.
  • Your personal item can contain an umbrella, camera, assertive device, infant diaper bag, food for the flight, outer garments, reading material, or neck and head pillow, proviso they fit in your bag while taking care of dimensions.
  • In a few instances, you can bring car seats or strollers onboard free of cost, as decided by the airlines, whereas folding wagons can't be brought onboard.

Carry-on Baggage Policies:

  • The Go Big, Go Comfy, and Go Savvy fare type travellers are allowed to bring one carry-on bag onboard, in addition to a personal item, free of cost.
  • Spirit Airlines doesn't allow the Go fare type travellers to bring any carry-on bags, with or without cost. If you want to add a carry-on bag, you have to upgrade your seat to either Go Big or Go Comfy, as you are not allowed to upgrade your seat to Go Savvy.
  • Those who are allowed to accompany carry-on baggage should take care of the dimensions, as they can exceed 22 x 18 x 10 inches or 56 x 46 x 25 cm, including wheels and handles.

Note: Spirit Airlines can shift your carry-on bag as checked baggage if they feel that your bag can't be stored safely onboard.

Spirit Airlines Guidelines and Fee Structure for Checked-in Baggage

  • Spirit Airlines' Go Big and Go Comfy passengers can bring one checked-in bag for free, while additional baggage can be permitted as per the availability of space, at the per bag cost varying from $30 to $100 based on the number of bags, flight route, and your loyalty membership status.
  • For the Go Savvy and Go passengers of the airline, checked-in baggage is not allowed free of cost. You have to add your checked-in baggage separately, with a per-bag cost varying from $30 to $100 based on the number of bags, flight route, and loyalty membership status.
  • Each bag's dimensions, including length, weight, and height, should be limited to 62 linear inches or 158 cm.
  • The maximum weight of each bag should be 50 pounds or 22.6 kg.
  • Any bag exceeding the mentioned weight and dimension is considered excess baggage and charged accordingly.
